Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer Motorcycle Accident Jefferson Parish, Louisiana — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of Deputy Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, 41, of River Ridge, who died Friday following a motorcycle crash while performing a funeral escort in the Hollygrove area of New Orleans. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto confirmed the loss of the 14-year department veteran, describing the incident as a tragic day for the law enforcement community. Ohlmeyer was struck from behind by another vehicle on Airline Highway around 11:40 a.m. while on duty escorting a funeral procession.

He is survived by his wife, Desiree, and their children, Gavin and Olivia, who face an enormous loss as the community grieves alongside them. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was also hospitalized and treated following the collision.

Law enforcement partners from across the region have expressed condolences as the investigation into the crash continues under the direction of the New Orleans Police Department. Sheriff Lopinto and parish officials have underscored the impact of Ohlmeyer’s service and the deep void his death leaves in the department and the broader community.

Funeral and memorial arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days as family and colleagues prepare to honor his life, service and sacrifice. Deputy Ohlmeyer’s passing marks a somber moment for Jefferson Parish law enforcement and the families he served throughout his career.
